The Stormy Knights lose to St. Joe's at every
contest until the most important - the Northeastern's.
At the New York State championship the loss is
a 20 point blowout. By the Suffolk-Nassau championship
in July it is down to 2 points.
Jim Martin teaches both horn and fife lines. Mr. D. hires
Ray Fardy temporarily for a month and he is the
Northeastern horn judge in September. The Stormy Knights
win by a couple of points to the shock and dismay
of the Astoria crew.
The same pattern would repeat itself several years later
with Father Brenkert and Our Lady of Fatima and once
again with the N.Y. Chinese and Harry Hazelwood and
Fred Zoeller. Somehow, the Stormy Knights would lose
the preliminaries, but score an upset win at the final
and most important championship.
