Who are the Mighty 9? I've heard a lot about them, but no
one's ever actually told me who they all are. Are they like
the Mystery Men?

or just plain "Snows" as we where known, way way back.
Hello, to everyone who was a part of OLS Stormy Knights,
especially those who made the transition from standstill to
M&M. Here are a few people places and things that I can
still remember. Howard Reiff - original drum line instructor.
Freddy Zoeller - who came on board as the drum instructor
when we went M&M. St. Josephs Brigade, a major
competitor during the standstill years. Quartet competitions.
Mr. D, chewing on his cigar, the "7 stroke roll", and our big
fife, drum and G bugle hit: Stars and Stripes Forever. Keep,
keeping in touch, This is fun.

Subject: More names from 1963..
Comments:
Thanks to Fred Petrone the 1963 corps photo is nearly
complete with all the names. Also Fred contributed a great
photo of the 1960's snare line! Speaking of corps photo's
how about some name contributions from the 1972 photo?

Subject: The Guest Book
Comments:
If you think some Guest Book entries are missing, you're
right. The entries were getting long, so I archived them on a
separate link off of the main Guest Book page, where you
select either SIGN or VIEW. You can still view them. I'll
periodically take off old Guest Book entries and archive
them when the book gets too long.

Thanks for checking out my site, Sal! I sincerely appreciate
and look forward to all the help I can get. You've got a good
thing going here with the Stormy Knights. Keep up the good
work. Also, I'd like to keep in touch if you don't mind me
bugging you. Ha! Thanks again, Clint at clinthathaway.com

Thanks for the memories! My parents gave me your web
site to brows through. My father Mr. Henry Smith used to
teach Color Guard and that's where I was. We did pretty
good back then. So thanks. It was nice seeing old times.

Comments:
Mighty 9. Sorry I havnt been able to respond to this query.
Being the 10th horn in the corp I seem to remember the
folling names that were there in that horn line, when I got to
the "big corps". Mike Desposito, Joe Gentile, Jim Mcallister,
Roger Recker, Jeff Gorman, Pepe Santiago, Thomas
Reagan, Paul Griener. I could be wrong on some of these
names but this is as I recal them from my first memories,
34.5 years after getting my "Silver Horn". Hope this posting
finds everyone doing well. Bill Sapienza

Subject: Mighty Nine
Comments:
Hi Bill: I have to correct one name you posted for the Mighty
Nine. It's Jeff Gordon (not Gorman). Speaking of Jeff, Jeff
mailed me a copy of two pages of Rules and Regulations
from the early days. I scanned then in as JPG's in the Corps
History section. What's up with those Demerits!? I wouldn't
have lasted two weeks if they had enforced them!

Subject: Chat Room?
Comments:
Anybody interested in a chat session this Sunday (2/4/01)
from 9:00 to 10:00 PM? If it works out we can choose a
regular time. Post a quick note here if you think you'll
make it.

Subject: Rules & Regulations
Comments:
You can tell the rules & regulations were made for the
Catholic school student in mind (borrowing from some of the
Josephite's way of thinking). I think I got 50 demerits just
reading the list while I was whistling, and had my hands in
my pocket! I can't imagine anyone from the X-generation
adhering to the rules & regulations! (Too bad, it might not be
a bad idea!) I loved the part about getting approval from Fr.
Lavelle in order to leave the corps. What were they going to
do if you didn't get his approval? Kick you out??

Comments:
Christine, I see no e-mail address for you, but your father
was not JUST the color guard instructor. He was one of the
greatest men I have had the privilege to have met and
known. He has my greatest respect and admiration. He had
the patience of a saint! Another memory, how about the
Bagle shop across the street? They never did so much
business as when we had practice!

Comments:
Sal..Count me in for Sunday evening... As for PAtty's
bagels...man I wish we had bagel shops here in Florida that
were half as good those back home! Remember Margelines
Pizza???...or how about the High Lite deli..or even
better. The Venice restaurant!! (pitcher of water and a loaf
of garlic bread anyone??) I remember Mr Smith as well...I
loved the way he would call cadences...."her left...her left...
her left right left..) Bill

hey i'll never forget carmen cluna. He had us walking straight
lines and if anyone were caught chewing gum, well then it
was the GUM ON YOUR NOSE and march with it on your
nose! my in-laws, Mr. & Mrs. D. always had all of us at their
house. Drum Corp. was one of the only ways mike and I
could see each other, cause that's where he was most of
the time. Mike and I have a lot of fun memories. It would
really be great if we could all meet and have a party. let's
work on it.

Comments:
Hi Eileen, 28K isn't so bad, for a chat session that sends
only text. I have a 56K modem, but NEVER connect better
than 28K because the local telephone central office has
lousy equipment. When I called to complain, basically they
told me too bad, they only guarantee voice grade service.

All chatters should know that the chat room is NOT this
Guest Book. Go to the "Message Board-Chat" link on the
left hand side. Clicking on the Delphi link will take you to the
Delphi site. You must register.

Once you register, look for "Active Chats" (not the Message
Board, a chat session is live and interactive). Look for a
"stormyknights" chat session. Anybody can create the
session. We should create only one.

this site is making me feel old and i was on the younger side
of the old timers. what i remember most was george and
mike d jamming their feet between my shoes so i had that
45 degree thing happening. I also happen to remember being
the first patient of the glen oaks volunteer ambulance corps
when i marched into a parking meter during their opening
day parade. Anyway its great to hear from everyone and that
party sounds like a great idea.
